It's interesting because Robert is a EarthGov soldier while Karrie is a Unitogolist saboteur. Robert "Norton", just like how the the protagonist from DS Mobile was called Karrie "Norton" It's not unusual for people to share their surnames but in fiction it's almost always intentional. He also looks nothing like his DS3 counterpart. While he still doesn't like Isaac in the comics he definitely acts more reliable, even "adult" if that's the right word, in Liberation. From the snippets I've seen in DS: Liberation, Norton comes off as a more strong-minded and selfless guy compared to his personality in the main game. It looks like he is portrayed as a completely different person in the graphic novels. I've even seen somebody speculating that Norton was actually one the survivors Isaac could encounter in Valor (the guy who ran away). Of all the possible stuff the devs could have reused for the game they chose the most obvious and blatant example for the players then. Some might argue that the logo was reused because of time restrictions but I don't buy that theory. He has a giant USM Valor logo from Dead Space 1 on his chest. Ignoring the nonsensical love triangle plot with Ellie and Isaac, which feels nothing like Dead Space, there are several aspects of Norton I want to briefly talk about. We have Norton, a major character from DS3 who the majority of players disliked.
